Canyon Ridge ELL Students
Canyon Ridge High School offers an after-school program for students including Canyon Ridge ELL students (English Language Learners). After School provides extra homework help, tutoring in core subjects, work on language proficiency, and using language learning programs on computers. Many students are taking advantage of this program, hence there is a great need for volunteers to help the students navigate the programs, tutor 1-1, and answer general questions on homework. Mrs. Cathy Talkington, who is overseeing the program, is asking for volunteers to help, particularly those who are good with Math. No formal training is needed, just the willingness to give one hour of your time to students. They meet every Tuesday-Thursday from 3:15 to 4:30 pm. You do not have to commit to everyday to volunteer. If you can do just one day Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, that would be great!
In addition, for two and ½ weeks in December, there is an opening during the day (10 – 11 am, 11 am – noon) to individually tutor an ELL student with an online class.
If you are interested or know of anyone who would be interested in volunteering their time, please contact Mrs. Talkington at talkingtonca@tfsd.org. You can also respond to this email and I will be sure she gets your reply.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to give service.
Respectfully,
Tara Packham
Canyon Ridge PTSA President
